Short Films Session: Recognition x Congolisation
Recognition, in partnership with Congolisation, invites you to the screening of 3 wonderful short films on the 14th January 2017 at the Pianofabriek in the room Arenberg.
Screeing will be followed by a Q&A session with Malkia Mutiri and Anthony Nti.
Film 1 “L’ecurie Maloba” 25mins:
Directed by Malkia Mutiri
L’écurie Maloba is a portrait of the Congolese theater scene done in immersion about a troupe of actors living in Kinshasa. As the date of the show approaches, artists try, as best they can, to give the best of themselves.
Film 2 “Kwaku” 15mins:
Directed by Anthony Nti
Kwaku lives with his grandmother Nana in a small village in Ghana. Nana always tells Kwaku a traditional Ghanaian fable about a clever spider called Kwaku. Like the spider, the boy is smart and independent and does most of the chores because Nana has a problem with her leg. One day, Kwaku hatches a plan to get a present for Nana – a present he’s been wanting to get her for some time
Film 3 “Kanye Kanye” 15mins:

Kanye Kanye, small township on the outskirts of Johannesburg, South Africa, where many years ago two best friends had a childish argument about which apple is better, the red or the green. The argument lead to the great division within the towns history. A big white line was drawn through the middle of the town and everyone who believed the green apple to be better would live on the right side of town in a green house, only wear green and visa versa. Thomas a teenage from the green side falls in love with Thandi, a teenager from the red side. Can the couple’s love overcome the social constraints?
