The Foreigner’s Home – Rian Brown & Geoff Pingree

The Foreigner’s Home explores Toni Morrison’s artistic and intellectual vision through ‘The Foreigner’s Home’ her 2006 exhibition at the Louvre. Through exclusive footage of Morrison in dialogue with artists, along with extensive archival footage, music, and photographs, the film presents a series of candid and incisive exchanges about race, identity, « foreignness » and the redemptive power of art.

The screening will be preceded by the poetry performance of Aru.
– 28 years old studying 3D Design. Aru tries to express emotions that a black, queer African diaspora person would feel. Through observation, experiences and facts. What it means to look for meaning in ourselves influenced by our environment and how we are affected by our history. And the concept of self-love through the deconstruction of everything learnt. –
